Digital image of Twenty-seven heads decapitated on the Old Town Square, Prague June 21, 1621.Twenty-seven leaders of he Bohemian Estates that led the rebellion against Ferdinand II and the Catholic League were executed on the Old Town Square on June 21, 1621. A memorial plaque is embedded in the wall of the Old Town Hall. The heads were left on Charles Bridge for nearly ten years during the Thirty Years War. However, a row of twenty-seven stylized blue heads stands before the Liechtenstein Palace in Malostrana. Liechtenstein supported and defended the Hapsburgs with the Catholic League during the Thirty Years War. Today the blue and white striped Liechtenstein Palace serves as a Music Academy across from St Nicholas.
